Empire Union School District

Expanded Learning Opportunities Program

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) is an afterschool and summer school enrichment program for EUSD students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.

“Expanded learning” means after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of EUSD that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school-day and school year.

Our Empire Union School District’s goal in ELOP is to provide safe, quality child care and enrichment that is designed to enhance our children’s educational experience right on our school campus’.  We value working with parents, staff and students at each site to support the classroom curriculum and instruction after school.

 EUSD’s ELOP Provides:

  • A curriculum based on the developmental needs of school-age students.

  • Program activities that foster the social, emotional, academic and physical development of children.

  • Free enrollment open to all EUSD students (TK-8), plus all students receive a free meal during the afterschool program.

  • Positive interactions among staff, parents and children that promote respect and sensitivity toward all people.

  • A safe, healthy and nurturing environment where character counts.

EUSD’s ELOP Program Offers:

  • An afterschool program at every school within the district.

  • An afterschool program on each school day throughout the year.

  • After school care starting immediately after school ends until 6:00 pm at all sites.

  • After program transportation for those students that utilize ‘to school’ transportation services each day.
